I'm tempted by Brit's suggestion of Bryan Appleyard's How To Live Forever. It seems to touch on our favorite issues, but with a different spin -- both of which are important. Also, the chance to drag the author along for the ride doesn't come along every day.
What do you all think?

Quite a timely title for me. I'm good to go one way or the other.
Count me in. Unless: this Appleyard fellow isn't Sicilian, is he?
Good one, Joe.
Do we have to order it from the UK? I can't find it in stock at Amazon nor Barnes & Noble.
I think you might have to ship it from the UK. I did say that was a drawback.
I've emailed Bryan Appleyard and he informs me that unfortunately there is no US publisher at the mo, so you'll have to get it through Amazon.co.uk.
OK, I'm in. I know I said that last time but didn't participate, but I really want to find out how to live forever.
I'm in.
Joe, Mr. Spock here. People have noted the likeness about the ears, but this is first time I've had it confirmed scientifically, Vulcan it is. I hope that won't intimidate any of you guys.
I'll join in too.
If we can wait till late April to get going, I'll smuggle some back from Blighty.
David, late April's good. Let me know how to handle the damages.
I was wondering if it would be awkward to discuss a book with the author part of the discussion. I'd hate to say something to hurt his feelings.
If you're going to smuggle it back from the UK, I'll go in too.
erp:
I doubt Mr Appleyard will join in too much, but there's a chance he'll pop in to see how it's going. Also, we Englishmen make it a point of honour to (pretend to) never have our feelings hurt.
Will Amazon UK ship it to the US? If not, then I'll buy one of David's smuggled copies.
I'm pretty sure they will. I've bought stuff from Amazon.com before.
I've bought at least one Harry Potter book from Amazon.uk. They will ship into the states. However, check the shipping costs. My memory is that it was surprisingly expensive.
David:
If you are going into the book smuggling business, count me in for one.
David: If you'll all suffer a Johnny-come-lately I'd be delighted to join in?
