Focus On Britain

As we mull over American ignorance of Englishmen and foreigners, it occurs to me to wonder whether the British know how popular Tony Blair is in the states. I haven't been able to find anything more recent than this Pew poll from 2005, but at that point he had been thought of favorably by at least 87% of the American people for three years.

He is, of course, unpopular in Britain, although no where near as unpopular there as President Bush.

All of our politicians are unpopular, by definition.

Blair is actually one of the least unpopular leaders here in memory, especially given how many elections he's won. But he is still unpopular.

But to answer your question, yes we know you lot absolutely love him.

Am I right in thinking that this is because anti-Bushites see him as a moderating influence on Bush, while pro-Bushites see him as Bush plus brains?

It's because American only see his foreign policy, not his domestic policy.

Betcha he's much less popular now than back then, since BDS is so much more widespread these days...
