Ben & Jerry's protest the fact that we spend more on education than on the military, that we spend the third most per student in the world, and that we get such poor results.
Well, that's what I think it said. They used big words.

Well...
At the philosophical level, I wouldn't mind spending less on nukes. I don't really know how much is essential for upkeep of the nuclear stockpiles, and how much is spent on replacing aged weapons, and so forth.
However, I'd just use the savings for more SDI research, so B&J probably wouldn't consider me friendly towards their position.
Speaking of their position, if it really would cost just $ 2 billion to innoculate all of America's 2-year-olds, why not cancel all Congressmembers' "bridges to nowhere" and "history of fishing museums" ?
That'd get us to a mere two bil pretty quickly.
Plus, most kids aren't unvaccinated due to a lack of money on the parents' part, at least, not in America.
That ballbearing demonstration was cool! Presumably you'll need all those nukes for when the Martians attack.
But what does ice cream manufacture have to do with the national defence spending policy?
Hey, I had a regular coffee.
You and the family will really have to come up to Northampton next time. It's gorgeous.
Peter:
I can easily imagine it. In various trendy cafe-bars on the Gloucester Road here in Bristol, there's hardly room to set down on the table your soya-milk latte and your humous, lemongrass and beancurd ciabatta, what with all the copies of the Guardian's travel supplement and last week's Socialist Worker.
David:
I wish I had known that. The summer before last I was between Ware & Barre.
Jeff: An opportunity lost. If life every brings you back this way, let me know.
