We Wince At Every Hit
What's even wronger, is doing it in cruise control mode.
This issue has generated more letters to the editor of The Maui News over the past 10 years than any other. If you are driving the legal limit, is it still wrong?
If you are driving the legal limit, is it still wrong? It's still a bad idea. If the person behind you wants to go faster than the limit, and you can move over, why wouldn't you? Private enforcement of the traffic laws isn't much of a point, and there's always the chance the person behind you will take it personally. My first two rules of driving are:1. Don't do anything unexpected; and2. Don't be an asshole.(I fail more often on 2 than 1.)My real pet peeves are people who speed up when you go to pass them (being passed is not a judgment on your manhood; don't take it personally) and people who insist on sitting on your left rear tire, right in your blind spot. I most often fail rule 2 in those situations than in any other.
If you are driving the legal limit, is it still wrong?Yes.Look at the signs posted on most, if not all, multi-lane highways:"Slower traffic, keep right"That doesn't mean slower than the speed limit, it means slower than the driver behind you, and no one is on the right. What makes me apoplectic is a car in the left lane pacing a car on the right. That is a sure sign of a clueless idiot at the wheel, which is far more hazardous to fenders, life, and limb than cell phone usage.
