Apparently, PETA is mad at President Obama for swatting a fly. But what business is it of PETAs, given that flies are not animals. Another example of mission creep. (Of course, I'm really just in it for the title.)
Common house flies are classified kingdom Animalia, phylum Arthropoda, class Insecta, order Diptera, family Muscidae, genus Musca). That makes then animals.

Only on a technicality, SH.
I knew there's be some nutters out to get him for that (in addition to nutty republicans, of course).
Well, then, what is an animal? Mammalia? What of Reptilia? Or Vertabrata, perhaps?
Besides, Mr. Cohen is a recovering lawyer who deserve any pedantry thrown their way.
To be pedantic, that should be either:
Mr. Cohen is a recovering lawyer who deserves any pedantry thrown his way, or
Recovering lawyers, such as Mr. Cohen, deserve any pedantry thrown their way.
